What is Basket Brigade?

Basket Brigade is an annual event, inspired by Anthony Robbins, of unconditional contribution and fundraising. Basket Brigade is a global event which feeds approximately 3 million people worldwide around Christmas time, and has been going for around 30 years. The recipients of the baskets are people like you and me, who just happen to be in a place at the moment, where they have been dealt a very difficult hand.
Last year, over 50 Norwich Yes Group volunteers and their friends & families delivered over 100 Christmas food baskets to families across Norfolk who face difficulty. Imagine the pressure and sadness that many families feel at Christmas. Now imagine their reaction to a stranger appearing on their doorstep and providing a basket full of food and seasonal goods! And accompanying the basket is a card which reads:

“This basket comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else someday.  A friend”.

All items that go into the hamper are paid for by people very kindly donating money to this event.  To feed a family of 4 this will cost £20.  How would you feel if you knew that sitting down with your own family at Christmas time you would have contributed to enriching another family’s life that are experiencing hard times.

How can you help?

There are 3 ways you can help this year…

  1. Nominate someone to receive a hamper, this person will have had a tough year (financially or emotionally) and would benefit from knowing that a stranger is thinking of them.  You MUST NOT tell them they are nominated or who nominated them.  The idea is that it is anonymous – somehow this makes it more special. Click HERE to nominate someone.
  2. Donate your Time.  Would you like to be part of a very special party?  On 23rd December volunteers get together to pack and distribute the hampers, it’s a very special day and most find that it really make Christmas come alive for them.   One of the basic human needs is to contribute and what a great way to do it surrounded by positive people creating something very magical for Christmas.
  3. Donate your Money.  We are always looking for donations in order to continue this magical event – please donate via our Just Giving Page.  Every £20 you donate is another family we can feed this Christmas and even just £5 helps so please donate today.

If you are part of a large organisation or associated with a supermarket we would love to hear from you as finding all the foodstuffs is an essential part of the day.
